LXE stands for industrial data collection. Their equipment is rugged and their experience lon in the industry. Entering the market as a RF communication leader, they have stayed their prefering to OEM printing and scanning equipment.

PSC merged with Percon in the late 90s and continuned to produce a full line of laser scanners including the Powerscan series - one of the industry's most rugged laser scanners. Also the pair has maintained the PT, Top Gun and Falcon lineup of light industrial handhelds at affordable prices. PSC has a fair percetage of Grocery self checkout as well.

Symbol is largest manufacturer of bar code equipment. They absorbed their arch-nemesis, Telxon, in 2000. Once primaritly a retail scanning solution, Symbol now hasa broud line of data collection equipment. Solid patents on the scan technology ( specifically the "triggered' aspect of the scanner) have served them well. Recently Motorola acquired Symbol. Symbol is 1/50th the size of the famous phone maker.

Telxon was absorbed by Symbol in 2000. There was a great deal of product mix overlap so Symbol gleefully discontinued the majority, if not all, of the Telxon products not associated  with major clients.

HHP merged with Welch Allyns data collection side in 1999. The result is outstanding customer service working behind technically advanced wireless handhelds and imagers. The Dolphin 7000 and 9000 series are current and many units utilize the Adaptus camera intelligence.

Zebra is a srictly a printer manufacturer. They make the thermal and thermal transfer products common inthe roll and tag oriented requirements of the industrial through retail world.

This industry merger brought the Canadian RF group, Teklogix, together with England's Psion. Their market is similar to LXE's; rugged industrial wireless applications.

Compsee manufacturers wedges, portables, and VMUs. Originally an army boot contractor, their first wedges were made in response to government demands for WIP tracking. Now the company has branched out to the APEX handheld and MAT VMU products.
